MIND THE GAP

I have always enjoyed vacationing in London, U.K. This is because of the city’s excellent public transportation system. The underground trains are particularly fascinating. As you disembark at each station, you hear a cautionary statement that admonishes you to, “mind the gap”. Apparently there is a differential height of about two to three inches between the platform and entrances into the train. Anyone who steps in or step out of the train without paying attention to the gap may stumble and suffer injuries, hence the advice, “mind the gap”.

Recently the Holy Spirit showed me the spiritual implication of minding the gap. The journey of life and its destination is separated by a gap. The magnitude of the gap is a function of our separation from the Lord. The gap originated as a result of the sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  God however made special arrangement for divine restoration.  It is an arrangement by the cross. The cross therefore bridges the gap between the journey of life and the destination. He who does not carry is cross daily and follow me, is not worthy of me. Are you worthy of Him? Please mind the gap in your daily life by carrying your cross and follow Christ.
